The Chequers Inn has had, if you'll excuse the pun, a bit of a chequered history. A firm favourite for local tradies it has also tried to use its attached bistro to appeal to the towns ever growing population of white collar workers.
The inn has been closed for a few weeks now for, what is looking to be, a significant refurbishment. The new cappucino exterior paint job and fancy "historic" window signs suggest that it may be planning a move away from its traditional clientele. It's due to reopen next month.
