Butterflies

This may well be the most skilled piece of street art in town. It comes courtesy of the Port Melbourne Primary School and is one of many large paintings on the side of the hoardings of the Swallow Street shaft site of the Melbourne Main Sewer Replacement project.
The new main sewer is being tunnelled 10m underground alongside Evans Street. It will be connected up to local sewers that currently feed into the original 19th century sewer that runs alongside Ross Street. Although the pipeline heads straight toward the sea, Melbourne's muck is actually piped all the way out to Werribee for treatment (before ultimately ending up in the sea).
